All of the paintings are based on the land of Elysium in Greek mythology and the concept of the sublime beauty found within nature. Elysium was the paradise to which heroes were sent when granted immortality by the gods. In writings it was a land of perfect happiness, unknowing of snow or rain, only the blossoming of flowers and the warmth of the sun.
